Boulder Valley Rotary Club (BVRC)
Historic Highlights
1985 - Under the sponsorship of the Boulder Rotary Club, the Boulder Valley Rotary Club received its charter from Rotary International with 26 charter members at the University of Colorado Memorial Center. Club meetings were set for Tuesdays at noon and the Holiday Inn on 28th Street was the Club's first home.
1988 - BVRC held its first Share A Coat campaign during which 500 coats were collected, cleaned, and distributed to those in the community in need.
1990 - Due to the Club's growth, a new meeting site was needed, and the Club moved its meeting location to its current site, A Spice of Life Event Center.
1991 - Boulder Valley Rotary Community Foundation was formed as a separate entity to establish an endowment fund to support charitable projects in our community.
1994 - The Loser's Ball in 1994 was the Club's first significant fund raising event, was held, raising more than $5,000 for charitable purposes.
1995 to 2003 - The Club's major fundraiser changed names to, Diamonds & Spurs, raising more than $250,000.
Today
BVRC has approximately 80 members representing a wide variety of vocations.
BVRC has raised and provided to local and world agencies more than $350,000.
BVRC has collected, cleaned and distributed more than 30,000 coats and countless hats, mittens, and gloves within our Boulder community. Many coats and items have been distributed to Native Americans living on reservations in Colorado and the Dakotas.
BVRC has participated in world service projects in 12 countries; has sponsored exchange students to several countries; and has served as host for one year periods to inbound foreign exchange high school students from France, Norway, Sweden, Romania, Argentina, Spain, and Brazil, among other countries.
